Profession:
Videographer/Barista
Recreation:
Reading, writing, whitewater kayaking, backpacking, day hiking, exploring (city and rural, on foot or via car) hopefully rappelling starting this summer; also hopefully more horse-riding, makin' stuff (digital art, jewelry, clothing/costuming, effects makeup, interior design, furniture, books, leatherwork, screenprinting, drawing, aged/distressed paper items, ceramics, cloisonne/copper enameling, drawing, baking, painting, cooking, documentary, crochet, general jury-rigging of stuff to serve new purposes, etc.), watching good movies, eating tasty food, imagining awesome things, getting so blissed out on God I burst into tears, and (on rare occasions) dressing up like an 1880s farm girl and doing fun historical things like dyeing eggs with turmeric or scraping the bristles off a freshly killed hog.
About Me:
Have you ever been outside, sitting on top of your car, on a warmish night in early summer, when the air is about the temperature of your skin and the wind is rushing past like the chariot horses of the thunderstorm and lightning is just starting to crackle in the western sky?
That's my favorite time, because in that atmosphere, in that moment, I feel all the power of nature and all the power of being human.
As a species, and even as individuals, we both dominate and are dominated by nature -- not only weather and mountains, but time, physics, biology -- everything that determines what we are and what we can do.
That nexus, that point of collision, is where I live. It's what all my art is about, in one way or another. Nature vs. technology, past vs. future, humans vs. God, limitations vs. possibilities . . .

"The heart breaking makes a sound I never knew
Could be so beautiful and loud
Fury filled and we collide . . .
Here it comes, a beautiful collision
Is happening now . . ."
- David Crowder*Band

Kayaking blog is up and running!

If you want to know what I'm up to this summer, look at "A New Kayaker Goes Pro"

There's also a link on there to my "Random Thoughts" blog, which contains links to a couple long-term story projects that are still in the worldbuilding phase . . .

My kayak needs a name!

The boat is a blue/white Pyranha Burn, which I'm going to be using over the next several years on everything from the New & Gauley Rivers to little creeks in Ohio and steep mountain streams down in east Tennessee.

The short list of names I'm considering, in… Continue

I like skin. And I like diving.
But I cant hold my breath for long. Maybe I'll get a deep salad bowl and fill it with water to dunk my face in to practice. Or use the tub.

And the pizza that I went to get on my bee of days turned outto be a suprise parrrty!

Well, exploration is exploration; urban, rural, or otherwise. We'd love to see whatever you get. As a matter of fact I saw some beautiful pics the other day that would fall under the heading of rural exploration. I think I'll post that link on the journal tomorrow.

Let us know when you get the site up. Not only do we want to see it, we can throw some linkage around, as well.

I hope we can entice you to post at least a couple of your urban exploration photos. I was really struck by them then I saw them. It's an activity that's always been dear to me and I continue to be surprised that more people don't "get" it. -Jade

And even though I'd put money on you having a 1,500 ft spool of 550-cord laying around, I'd still be happy to send you a bracelet (I've got a new pattern en route!) Let me know.

Let me tell you, if there are any two words that sum up a good life they are "Videographer / Barista".

Welcome, and thanks for coming by. I hope you will be able to post at least a little something of your video work, even just some crazy B-roll (or C or D-roll ;-) ) footage. We'd love to see some of your work.

And regale us with your exploits. We dig the exploits!
