I'm a bit of a movie soundtrack collector and thought I'd make a little list of my top faves. Music factors heavily into putting me into a creative mood and soundtracks definitely do that for me. What movie soundtracks are you guys into?
1. Gladiator-Such a powerful, emotional soundtrack with haunting vocals by Lisa Gerrard from Dead Can Dance.
My fave track: Am I Not Merciful
2. Braveheart-The soundtrack moved me almost more than the movie did. I love the bagpipes and the heroic quality of this one.
My fave track: Gift of a Thistle (one of those songs that can actually make me cry)
3. Last Samurai-Beautiful and soothing soundtrack with a lovely Japanese flavor. I write a lot to this one.
My fave track: Spectres in the Fog
4. Kingdom of Heaven-An immersive soundtrack blending medieval and middle eastern themes.
My fave track: Burning the Past
5. Prince of Egypt-Well composed vocals with a great score including haunting vocals by Ofra Haza.
My fave track: Goodbye Brother
6. Gangs of New York-Love the movie just as much as the soundtrack. It really suits the upbeat Irish flavor of New York gangs that the movie channeled. Also introduced me to great groups like Afro Celt Sound System. The old ballads on this are quite nice as well.
My fave track: Paddy's Lamentation
7. Brotherhood of the Wolf-This is just a cool movie. It has a great mystical feel in the soundtrack with a touch of eastern instruments.
My fave track: The Grey Wolf - Gevaudan
8. Hunchback of Notre Dame-Really love the chanting and the lyrics in this one.
My fave track: The Bells of Notre Dame
9. Pan's Labyrinth-This one's tough to listen to as it conjures all the depressing glory of the movie, but the dark fairy tale quality of the music is just as haunting as the movie was.
My fave track: Mercedes Lullaby
10. The Matrix-This was one of the first soundtracks I ever bought alongside Braveheart and Gladiator. It's a neat collection of techno and metal that brings together a lot of talented folks. I loved the first movie so it makes me think of all the fun I had watching it.
My fave track: Clubbed to Death
I loved Pan's Labyrinth. Aka Labyrinth of the Faun. I remember the music during the movie; it was very fitting. I really need to start finding the soundtracks to my favorite movies. Hancock actually had some great, fun music, lol. The movie was "okay."
One that I enjoy all the way through would be the LotR soundtracks. I love, love, love Irish folk music, or Celtic inspired. On the latest Nightwish albumn, there are two like that, The Islander being my most favorite.
I would list particular names of tracks, but I haven't really listened to any in awhile. I shall go change that.

I am astounded that the greatest soundtrack of all time is not in your list. The Blade Runner soundtrack by Vangelis.
I'm there with you on Gladiator, Lisa is awesome (as is most stuff by DCD). I also agree with Melancholic-Symphony on LotR, Howard Shore did a great job with that.
aah yes that one has been recommended to me before. Mostly I think Olympics when I think Vangelis, but I really need to check The Blade Runner OST out, for as many times as it's been recommended to me.
oh nice choices of game soundtracks. I've got a few myself, from Halo 2 (love the main gregorian suite), Ecco the Dolphin (hey it rocks for being about a dolphin), and Panzer Dragoon Saga.
I'm a fan of the old skool folks like Yuzo Koshiro who did the catchy little midi sounding ditties to Revenge of Shinobi and Streets of Rage. I need to get with the times now that games are newfangled and ochrestrated.
YES! Buy soundtracks. It is the greatest adventure!
Most of the soundtracks I'd like to get would actually have to be from Anime. But the GOOD anime. As in some of the movies from Hayao Miyazaki and ones with a similar feel.
mm yes Princess Mononoke is best of the Miyazaki soundtracks, IMO. There's an orchestrated album collecting the best suites from Miyazaki's films that you might be interested in. Yoko Kanno (Vision of Escaflowne, Darker than Black, Macross Plus, etc) does some of THE best anime soundtracks I've ever heard as well. She's really into mixing different styles of music together.
Movie soundtracks that no-one else probably ever would want but I love.
Lady in the Water ( The music made me cry. That's how beautiful it is.)
Matchstick Men ( Is it incredibly stupid that I had my first kiss to a song on this soundtrack. Yes... Okay... I'll be quite)
Iron Man. ( action movie soundtacks are awesome)
Wall-E ( Pixar. Nuff said)
Fiddler on the Roof ( Those songs are so catchy and fun)
Grave of the Fireflies. ( Also very sad)
Out of games soundtracks you cannot go past
Shadow of the Colossus ( More epic the LOTR's. God told me so. ( If you have played the game you would get that joke)
The Witcher
World of Goo ( technically there isn't a soundtrack but I extracted the audio files from the game)
