Video games? What's your poison of choice?

Inspired by the "How do you handle stress" thread. One way I handle stress is to dust off my poor ignored ps2 and strike up a nice violent game of Devil May Cry, Metal Gear Solid, or Onimusha. (last gen all the way!) There's just something about watching a beautifully animated character slice his way to victory through impossible odds.

Though in my older age, I've found myself playing games like Silent Hill and Fatal Frame more than action rpgs. I've just started to plain suck at action for some reason. I think it's my shortening attention span. Plus there's something thrilling about searching through an abandoned house waiting for the next boogie to jump out. I also love the imagery of these games, which is really quite lovely and disturbing all at once. Fatal Frame and Silent Hill also have wonderfully written stories that keep me playing just to solve the mystery.

Bah who says violent video games are corrupting America's youth. I came out just fine I think:P

Has anyone played Left 4 Dead yet? I've watched it in progress while my bf's friend played it, and we were both in awe. I still can't get over the fact that some can puke on you.

Left for dead is in the first person Survival horror Genre.
Anything horror i tend to fail at.
For example I'm trying to play Bioshock atm and i can only go for about an hour without freaking out too much.

If you forget it's scary, Left 4 Dead is basically a shooting game--with zombies. I used to play House of the Dead (both) in arcades a lot. I'm still best at games like Tekken and Mortal Kombat. I just feel like after Tekken 4, things went downhill :( Mortal Kombat is still pure win :D

I've seen videos of this online and it looks like fun! I keep hearing the most silly and random things about it, like the puke thing and zombies with long tongues. I get to play it for the first time this week at a geek bar. I'm totally looking forward to it!

Yup, the boomers are fat zombies who puke on you. Witches don't bother you unless you bother them, but kill with 1 scratch/touch. Tanks look like massive Hulks gone Zombie. The 4 types of zombies are basically from the various theories with zombies, such as those from a Viral case, in which case some can mutate people. Instead of a head shot killing zombies, which is the main case with "real" outbreaks, you can shoot them anywhere and they die. Considering they come too quickly, they made it easier in game play to kill. I want to play it because I haven't had a shooting game in awhile.
